✍️🃏Editorial: Zombie Scrollers

Something I am more and more aware of these days is the increasing number of Zombie Scrollers, these are people who go out into the world to do their jobs, shopping chores, errands, and most especially and annoyingly “playing” with their children while scrolling on their phones. 

I watch them everyday getting onto the elevator, selecting a floor, and scrolling, the elevator stops, they look up, not their floor, continue scrolling, ground floor, leave the elevator, continue scrolling, navigate the stairs, continue scrolling, cross the street, while scrolling, enter their car, prepare for commute, while scrolling, drive away, still looking at the phone.

When you see what they are scrolling, it’s just mind numbing garbage, yet they spend every waking moment scrolling it, like they will miss something important.

Apparently they can function well enough at work to not get fired and they don’t kill people with their car on a daily basis so I guess it’s not really seen as problem.

For me it’s a problem, I hate seeing it and I don’t want to live like that. 

When I go to the outdoor market and see the grandmothers there selling vegetables and fresh fish in-between scrolling I get a better idea of the scope of the problem and I worry a little bit about the future world my son will live in.
