🤖🛠️The future of AI powered tutoring starts now
Google had some big announcements this week that didn’t really get much coverage.
First was their new Quantum computing chip….I hear you asking “WTH is Quantum Computing? And why should I care?” So I asked AI to compose a sort of “Quantum Computing for Dummies” style article to get you up to speed.
Next was Google AI Studio and it’s new super cool AI tools. I have only had a few days to start snooping around in there but I’m really impressed.

Google AI Studio
With only a little bit of trial and error (less than an hour), I was able to generate this demo interaction of what the future of tutoring may look like. This video happened in real time, the responses were way faster than I expected. I modified the AI’s “personality” with a simple prompt that I had another AI write, this prompt described a Socratic style tutor. Naturally, I could improve the output by fine-tuning that description. It actually took me longer to edit the video than it did to figure out how to make the tutor work…The screen recorder I used didn’t record the tutor’s responses so I had to download them (luckily Google had separated out all the speaking parts) and paste them into the video using Canva so some of the timing may not be perfect, I am only human.
Everyone that has seen this video so far has said “yeah, but this or that or the other”, my response is that this technology will be 10 to 100 times better next year. As I mentioned before in an editorial, all the major players in the AI field are working on agents that will be able to interact with webpages, filling in forms, searching the web, generating content, purchasing things, selling things, just like us humans do, only they will be doing it 24/7/365 and at great speed. I fully expect to be experimenting with having an AI assistant help me build Playgrounds within a couple months.
Just estimating from the monthly cost of AI products in general, an AI assistant that could teach any subject in any language would only be about $9-$20 per month, and with economies of scale and the inevitable competition between the various companies that cost will plummet quickly.
