Sticky Note Mastery in the Koala Go Playground
A Koala Go Playground tutorial

In my opinion Sticky Notes are one of the coolest and most useful tools we have available in Playground. I often notice builders opting to use images for problems that could easily be solved using the humble and efficient Sticky Note.
Why does this matter?…Have you ever been waiting an uncomfortable amount of time for your Playground to load or to have it fail to load for your student?

Not an image, these are layered Sticky Notes
Naturally there could be many reasons this could happen, however, having hundreds of unique images to load is one of the leading causes of issues.
That being said, I use Sticky Notes for almost everything, and I have learned quite a lot about them during my time building Playgrounds. Some of the most interesting things are how they are constructed.
They have a thickness, not much, but you can stack them to get precise measurements in Playground.
They have a front and a back. The text can only be seen on the front.
The black border is part of the colored background.
The text is actually floating above the colored background.
And most importantly for this article, the space between the text and the colored background scales with the size of the Sticky Note.
Why is that important? Well, watch the video, this is not the only use for this trick but it may give you some ideas, it certainly got me thinking.
If the trick isn’t working for you then increase the size of your Sticky Note. The one shown here is about 8 blocks tall.
