🤖🛠️Math, logic, AI and storytelling all wrapped up in one project
This is going to be a long project, but I’ve made some decent progress on it so far.
I wanted a simple way to make pre-made “choose your own adventure” style stories. Originally I was just using an AI to generate those stories on the fly, this was ok but the results were not consistent. I wanted something easier to package and use for content rather than hoping the AI would behave and give each student an interesting story for reading practice.

First there was math, as you increase the number of choices and the number of story branches you have to account for numerous possible story paths and after a bit it just becomes too difficult to manage. So I settled on 2 choices at each branch and 4 story branches, this gives me 24 or 16 possible story endings and 31 rooms or slides that would need to be made to navigate the story.
Next came the logic and constructing a flowchart to make things easier to think about while building the templates.

16 potential endings, 31 slides or rooms or scenes
After the framework was in place, AI assistance was needed. I described what I wanted to the best of my ability and asked AI to write a prompt that would generate the output I was looking for. Surprisingly, I described the problem well enough that the first try generated close to what I was looking for. After a few iterations and changes I was starting to get pretty nice output. However, the stories were not great so I asked it to write a prompt that generated better stories and it did!!

The current version of the story in spreadsheet form
Naturally there are still improvements and changes to be made, but I am more than satisfied with the results so far.
Yesterday when a student was a “no show” for class (I usually stay in the classroom and do other things incase they show up late) I formatted a Canva presentation that has slides linked together in the correct way to follow the logic diagram. This way I would just need to copy and paste the elements from the spreadsheet into the correct boxes on the slides. And for the last week I have been building a Playground in my head that would fill the same functionality for Koala Go Playgrounds.
