👩🏻🏫🛠️Koala Go Whiteboard Dress-up activity and bringing student drawings to life
This dress-up activity is not a new idea, but it is fun, I start many classes with this activity as a warmer.
It’s pretty easy to make and customize if you have Canva, just look up hats, eyes, hair, etc and put the images you want into a logo file 500x500. Save them as a PNG file without a background. Load them onto a Whiteboard slide, then resize and arrange them however you like.

Once a student has joined the class you can click on their video window and it will clone itself onto the Whiteboard. Next you need to right click on it and “move to back” so the images will sit on top of it. You may need to adjust other images as well to get the layering you want.
This is a fun activity on its own but this week I added an additional twist.

Yes…I am quite the artist
Instead of dressing their video image, I have the student draw an image (stick figure or other), they can dress it however they like. The arms and legs should be away from the body.
Naturally this a great opportunity to use language for body parts, colors, clothing etc.
After they are reasonably happy with the image, take a quick screen shot of it and share the screen to show this website.
Upload your image, follow the directions, which include moving reference marks around, etc. Then let the AI animate it for you, there are several different animations you can choose from. If you select the full screen mode in the bottom right corner you will have the 3 dots menu where one of the options is to download the video.

You might not get a good image the first time around so I suggest doing some practice ahead of time. Sometimes an outline around the image will help the AI see it better and not break it up.
Everything (including fun activities) can be a teachable moment if you approach it the right way. This is also a great way to introduce students to using AI in fun ways, not just to cheat on homework 😄.
