This is another example of quick content creation using Wordwall and Gemini AI. I saw a post of these vocab words, took a screenshot of it, uploaded the image to Gemini, asked it to fact-check the words, It didn’t like one, so I excluded it. I asked Gemini to make a table of the words and definitions (2 columns), I copied that and pasted it into the Wordwall game builder and I was done!!

Well made templates save soo much time in the long run, but are time consuming to build. This one will be the basis of many lessons to come.

✍️🃏Editorial: If you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em

Incase you didn’t already guess, I am of the opinion that many teaching and tutoring jobs will be taken over by AI in the coming years. Maybe that’s 2 years, maybe it’s 5, but it will be happening. 

Now there will still be people who want a human tutor, but with the price differences there will be many who go the AI route, and let’s be honest, there are many, many tutors out there in the current marketplace that are not that good. Once customers start choosing AI over these low price tutors, the tutors will need to lower their already low rates, which in turn will lead to price decreases across the board.

What are the options? 

• Find a subject that AI has trouble teaching, start training and specialize in that. I’m not sure what those subjects might be, interpersonal relations maybe?

• Retire and find something else to do. Another reasonable option for some, but not for most.

• Learn to leverage AI to become a better match for the marketplace and take advantage of AI tools to teach better classes.

• Or finally, Join ‘em, be a part of the change and work towards improving AI powered tutoring.

For myself, the last two options make the most sense. I already use AI in my classroom to great advantage and I strive to do more, this strategy may keep me in the game longer than tutors that don’t embrace AI.

The most unselfish and good for humanity choice is probably to be part of the change. Free or low cost education is already becoming a fact of life in most parts of the world, I see this as a good thing. With access to an affordable AI tutor and the internet (all of humanity’s collected knowledge) we could see tremendous progress for humankind.
