👩🏻🏫🛠️Canva and Wordwall, organizing my virtual classroom hand-in-hand.
In my opinion being organized is half of the battle in my online teaching endeavors. Combining Canva and Wordwall is one of the ways I achieve that goal.

These are the tabs in Chrome that mean I am ready to teach.
The expandable “Prep” group contains 3 Canva presentations.

A presentation that contains embedded Wordwall games that I use for assessing levels for new students and a change of pace for regular students.
A presentation of IELTS speaking part 2 topics with embedded times for doing my end of class recordings.
A presentation of IELTS speaking part 1 topics for low level students to practice easy conversation topics. I don’t often need this one, but it’s there when I do.

The Canva presentation, simple
There are only 4 games currently embedded in the first presentation so far:
Quasi-Random speaking topics (more advanced philosophical speaking topics, for when the student doesn’t have any topics they want to discuss, these usually get us started.)
Prepositions in, at, on. It seems students of all levels struggle with these.
Phrasal Verbs, as a native speaker I am unable to formulate sentences without these but for non-natives they are usually something to work on.
A few common idioms. Even the simplest of these can be difficult for students and when they are used properly mark a higher level of English understanding and usage.
The next tab over is my Preply calendar, where I can see my schedule, send and receive messages and enter classes.
The last tab is my Koala go classroom, these days for my adult students I’m actually using the Preply classroom and screen-share the Koala Classroom Whiteboard to host my lessons.

IELTS speaking topics with embedded timers
And that’s it, when I see those tabs, I know I’m ready to teach. Just put on my shirt and tie, turn on the lights, and I’m ready to enter the classroom.
